Through this series we will discuss about modernizing your legacy applications and infrastructure

As organizations look to increase the pace of innovation, get more out of data, and build new customer experiences, they need to modernize their legacy applications and also build and develop newer modern applications. There are several paths to Modern applications.

In this webinar series, we will talk about the ways you can start your modernization journey, outcomes you would benefit from, mechanisms that AWS can support you with, architecture patterns, best practices, migration considerations, Automation and Observability to help you remove roadblocks and accelerate your application modernization initiatives.

Why Attend?

  • Modernization Paths (customers) can take and benefits/outcomes it entails
  • Different Services and Tools that customers can leverage from AWS to help develop, deploy, manage and maintain their applications and infrastructure
  • How to move applications to containers and deploy them on the right container platforms?
  • How to rearchitect your applications using the microservices, event driven architectures?
  • What kind of Automation/DevSecOps to bring in?
  • Observability framework to help give end to end visibility, insights which will help boost productivity and enhance user experience

Whatever the industry, organizations want to modernize to become agile, innovate and respond to change faster. To do this organizations are building applications and infrastructure faster than ever before with the ability to scale quickly to millions of users, with global availability, and response times of the magnitude of milliseconds.

This session will focus on ways you can start your modernization journey, outcomes you would benefit from, mechanisms, tools and services that AWS can support you with.

Legacy applications can be difficult for organizations to manage and often need a heavy infrastructure lift to manage and maintain. Because many legacy applications are no longer receiving software updates and run on operating systems that have reached 'end-of-support' lifecycle, organizations are looking for new ways to re-platform and manage legacy applications.

This session will focus on how AWS helps you with a set of tools and services to containerize your legacy application.

Traditional monolithic architectures are hard to scale. As application's code base grows, it becomes complex to update and maintain. Introducing new features, languages, frameworks, and technologies becomes very hard, limiting innovation and new ideas.

Within a microservices architecture, each application component runs as its own service and communicates with other services via a well-defined API. Microservices are built around business capabilities, and each service performs a single function. Microservices can be written using different frameworks and programming languages, and you can deploy them independently, as a single service, or as a group of services.

This session will talk about microservices, architectural patterns, how to decouple your architecture into microservices and how can AWS help.

For applications where you want to continue to take advantage of future investments and innovations in the .NET platform, you need to consider porting your applications to .NET Core. Also, there are additional reasons to consider porting applications to .NET Core such as benefiting from innovation in Linux and open source, improved application scaling and performance, and reducing licensing spend.

Porting can, however, entail significant manual effort, some of which is undifferentiated such as updating references to project dependencies.

In this session we will talk about several tools including Porting Assistant for .NET, a tool that helps customers analyze and port their .NET Framework applications to .NET Core running on Linux. AWS Microservice Extractor for .NET which simplifies the process of re-architecting applications into smaller code projects. We will also talk about how we have helped automate .net modernisation at scale.
